Ya BURNT!

Yes, recently I was burnt

I was innocently making a pot of soup when I stupidly thought that if I held the bowl such that my thum was in there, it wouldn’t reach my thumb.  Oh yeah, it did.  I was in sooo much pain all afternoon, and it NEVER subsided once.  Even worse, the skin under my finger nail was burned so even if the skin exposed was ok, the skin underneath would still throb like a son-of-a-gun.  Finally Phil came home with some solarcaine, and it instantly made it feel better.  Theres no blister left, but I think my thumb is gearing up to peel, it does look that way.

So, I am right smack dab in the middle of lab finals.  Well, more towards the end actually.  I have written Sedimentology and Igenous so far.  In sedimentology, I got the highest mark out of the whole class!  And I also got the highest mark overall.  Lord I am smart!  Weird news is that the mark was a 75, which isn’t the greatest, but heck I’ll take it.  Igneous went extremely well I think, accept now I am starting to doubt my answer for the first norite gabbro we looked at.  Whatever, I know that I atleast got a 75, and that is what my labs are sitting at right now.  I’m not doing the greatest in the class, so I’m hoping for an upper 70 in this class.  I write paleontology tomorrow afternoon.  I was supposed to study last night, but the strangest thing happened…..

I went to bed at 7 o’clock.  Yeah, you heard me right.

I don’t know what happened!  I came home, played on my computer, had some supper, watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (I almost cried when Cedric died.  I’ve seen it like 8 times, and for some reason it wanted to make me cry this time), and then I went to go lay down.  Well, I woke up and it was 2 in the morning, and all my clothes (save my underpants, MEGAN!) were off.  I really haven’t the slightest clue as to what happened, but now I am running on a comfortable 12 hours of sleep.  Wait, no, 13.  I think it was because I was starting to get sick, as strep throat has been running around the school like wild fire, and my body was starting to feel weak.  So atleast I fought it off with a nice long sleep.

So, as I was saying, paleo is thursday.  I’m not worried, because apparently there is just one of each fossil, with basic labelling and she only wants phyllum/class, and order if applicable.  So easy!  But, just to be sure, I’m studying for a good 6 hours strait today with Carlee while she studies her structural lab.

And then….I’M FREE! Not.  Sadly, I have 2 finals on monday and tuesday coming up fast, so friday/saturday/sunday are alternating study days between paleontology and sedimentology (recall sedimentology had only 8 people pass the midterm).  After that its a nice few easy days of stats studying (we’ve finished our course material like 2 weeks ago, so he pulled some old finals and we’re going through those!  SQUEE!) and then 3 more days until igneous.  Then I’m done!  And somewhat excited for the holidays. 

I’m also going in for my PLC this saturday, and I’m hoping to get it before the end of december.  FIngers crossed!

Dirtay Pop

Well after reading Megans blog I became inspired.  Really I’ve been meaning to write for a long time, just never really got around to doing it.

So!  School.  Well, first off I actually passed my sedimentology midterm with a 71.  Yay me!  I am compitent!  After that it was basically a series of highs and lows.  Mostly highs though.  89 on my stats midterm made me happy, since the rest of the class was a bunch of tards and got bad marks.  I just wrote my first lab final today, and it wasn’t the easiest thing in the world.  I’m really not sure how I did on it, so I’m hoping I did ok.  I passed my teachers exam with distinction yet again.  I had a perfect exam, and she urged me to do my judges exam ASAP since I had done so well.  So that was pretty nice.

Sickness wise I have managed to get one more flu, but it was a while ago and I didn’t really get it for very long, just a day or so.  Needless to say though that I have had too many flus this semester and they are definitly not appreciated.  Others keep getting pretty sick around me though, so I’m really trying to stay away without being a horrible person.  So far its not really working out that way.  Oops!

School life has been pretty stupid.  I’m just so sick of everyone right now.  Stacy is just constantly on my nerves right now, and I’m really starting to dislike Mandy again.  She is back to being a pot head and keeps telling everyone that its ok to do that, its not as bad as drinking.  Yeah, ok.  I mean, I get it, you went through heart break, but that isn’t really an excuse to completely let yourself go a good 4 months after the fact.  She was so driven when she was with Mark, and now its just gone again.  She also keeps doing the whole “I’m going to fail, I just want to drop out, I can’t stand this” bullshit too.  That really annoys me, I don’t care who it comes from.  Just suck it up and get on with it, yes it sucks that we sometimes get screwed over, but we all have to do it in the end anyways, so just let it go.  I manage to live on my own and have 3 jobs and do a large class load aswell and magically get everything done too.  *sigh* I think I’ll just end up studying on my own for finals this semester. 

Dancing has been ok.  I mean, I’ve just been teaching and all that so nothing really new.  Krystal has been on my nerves again, but thats never anything new.  I’m also thinking about doing some extra private lessons in december so that I can make some extra cash.  With my new members certificate, I’m able to bump up my private lesson fee to 20 bucks an hour.  FUCK YEAH!  That could get me rich fast.  I may even advertise that fact around, because hell if I have a saturday where I’m not doing much, then why not take advantage of that?  I could be rich with 5 private lessons!….ish!

My lab work has been getting better aswell.  I managed to finally isolate product, which means I ended with a solid 6 mL of product, which means that I’ve produced an average of 1 mL per month.  Yay me!  So tomorrow I get to move on to the next step.  I am very nervous about this, so I brought home my lab book so I can write out procedures etc.  I’m just anxious :S.  After this, if it works out, I’m going to be pushing all my reagents over to the next step and then continue like this till my contract is up.  I’m hoping that if I go in small steps like this I will be able to have a much smoother synthesis and actually come up with some real product!  If I could, then I would finally feel accomplished.

What else….OH!  World of Warcraft expansion came out.  Yeah, I am a huge nerd, and it couldn’t have come at a worse time.  Right when I start all my finals.  I’ve managed to play a bit on the weekends, and this weekend I will also have a ton of free time too, but when christmas comes I’m going to have this chair growing out of my butt.  I’m such a nerd, but thankfully I’ve been able to seperate it from school and not be so bad like I was when I played Diablo II.

Speaking of christmas, yikes I’m poor, but the nice thing is that me and Phil are splitting the presents which makes it a whole bunch cheaper.  This still doesn’t put me in a great situation for next semester, so I’m getting a personal line of credit to help me cope.  I think I might just put all my christmas presents on my credit card and then use my PLC for tuition and rent etc.  Then when the summer comes I’m just planning on putting all my saved money back onto my PLC, and during the semester I will put all my money back onto my credit card.  I’m hoping it works, and I’m also hoping that next year will be my last year of school, because from what I deduced it should be.  I’m thinking about setting up a meeting with the advisor of science to double check this, because I think I might actually have one more semester than I think.  Who knows, but atleast I’ll have a concrete answer. 

The BCSA has also been going….ok.  From what I hear, URSU actually cut our funding and never told us.  So, I’m going to be sending them an e-mail asking them if this is true.  If it is, then they’re going to get a long winded bitchy e-mail.  How UNPROFFESIONAL is it to NOT tell someone they’re not recieving 1300 dollars?  Yeah, not very.  So actually all we will ever get is 200 from the faculty of science, which isn’t horrible but we did have a lot planned.  Boo!

And sadly, I don’t have any funny pictures to point you towards like Megan did.  I’ll just go tell you to go to youtube and look up shwifty five.  I think I already showed Megan, but just do it anyways.

Should of done something, but I’ve done it enough

Hey guys!

WOW!  Finally, I’m sort of out of my depression.

So, lets fill you guys in on what school has been like.

So, lets start with paleontology.  My lowest mark on a lab, 75%.  Highest mark, 98.  Average of all my marks on labs, 90% .  Midterm mark, 85.  Overall, I thought this class would be hard, but its actually friggen easy.  I mean, we learn about a fossil and then…thats it.  The worst part of it right now is the time periods, I just cannot get the to stick in my head!  Thats what I was told to work on for the final.  I’m really hoping for atleast an 80 in this class, my marks are showing me that I can do it.

Stats.  Midterm mark, 93.  Lowest assignment mark, 75.  Highest mark 98.  Yeah, I’m hoping for a 90 in this class.  The thing is is that once your assignments total 10/10 (each is out of 2) then you can’t get any higher in the assignment section of the mark, and I only need one more 1.8/2 to finish off my assignments.  I’m super excited.

Igneous.  Midterm mark, 65.  This is because I studied MY ASS OFF for all the material we covered in class, which was a lot.  We get to the midterm, and its a midterm that belongs in geology 102.  So, we all think that its super easy and breeze on through.  Wrong idea, because he RAPED us with the marking.  I’m really dissapointed with this mark, but I have many opportunities to pick it back up like my paper and stuff so I’m just going to have to work my ass off.

Sedimentology.  I don’t really know, because we didn’t get the midterms back yet.  However, 8/9′ths of the class failed.  So yeah, not too sure how I did.  I know I passed, but now thinking about it I’m not sure how well I did.  The labs are fine.  We handed in a lab project, and I’m really not sure how I did.  We also wrote our lab midterm today, and I thought it was incredibly easy but I just keep second guessing myself.

For my birthday, I got lots of money to pay off my HUGE credit card debt.  I’m slowly getting out of it though.  I also bought season 8 of Will and Grace, season 4 of The Office, and will be purchasing House when my step sister gets off her ass and buys me a birthday gift.  I’ve also been watching 30 rock, which is friggen hilarious!  Megan, when you come back, we need to have a day of DVD watching.
